The Pirates of Pittenweem 2008
NODA REVIEW
"The Pirates of Pittenweem"
Director: Robin Ozog
Musical Director: John Howden
This was a very
innovative production, which was a pleasure to watch and listen
to. There were lots of clever twists, local accents and
references which added to the appeal of the evening.
Costuming was spot on, as was the extra Scottish music. A
lot of thought and preparation ahd clearly gone into the
production. It was great to see so many people on stage -
especially men. Robin Ozog excelled as the Pirate King,
with Billy Naismith a strong Frederic. Brian Shaw made a
fine job of Samuel, with Robert Douglas Kerr an imposing
Major-General and yes, we really did hear every single word of
that song! Dave Smith as the Sergeant of Police and of
course the Policemen themselves provided much comedy.
Elaine Young displayed her Scottishness to the full as Ruth and
when I saw the show, Linda Milne (Mabel) had lost her voice and
her songs and dialogue were sung most efficiently from the pit
by Claire Porterfield. Linda's voice did return for the
end of the week. Other principal parts were all well
played.
